Reflection: Predation and Capture-Recapture
Predation is a community interaction, a relationship between a predator and prey, In the natural environment, predation is one of the factor that balance the specie population. Last Tuesday, the activity we perform help us realize that natural predation in the wild is not a bad thing because the predator and prey limits their number. In a sense that the number of the predator affects also the number of the prey also they just performing their role in the wild , so there’s nothing wrong with that , as Sir Art stated “Don’t feel pity towards a cattle eaten by a tiger, because in every 7 attempts there’s only 1 success catch.
In the another activity , it’s about Capture-Recapture a method used by wildlife rescuer for them to monitor the animals they’ve got rescue. In our activity, instead of animals , we used mongo beans that act as the animals from the wild that will be marked as capture-recapture. This method made us realize that we can do something to help and save other organisms such as animals in our natural environment.
